In 2024, I designed and launched Scintilla’s first Data Dictionary—a centralized source of truth for data definitions across Walmart’s analytics platform.
Previously, users had to maintain their own spreadsheets to track column names, aliases, and definitions. This created confusion, especially when teams worked with both Walmart-provided data and their own custom datasets.
The Data Dictionary gives users a flexible way to browse, learn, and manage data descriptions, whether the data is Walmart-provided or user added. It helps Walmart suppliers and merchants stay aligned on what each data point means, ensuring consistent interpretation and reducing friction in analytics workflows.
